New members appointed to Consumer Scotland Board

Scottish Government announces two new members

Minister for Public Finance Ivan McKee has announced the appointment of two new members to the Consumer Scotland Board.

Jane Hutchison and Marion McDonald have been appointed for a three year term until February 2029.

The new non-executive positions will play a key strategic role in ensuring the delivery of Consumer Scotland's purpose to improve outcomes for current and future consumers, working with other Board members and the senior executive team.

Jane is a financial services professional with a focus on inclusion and diversity.

She led the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce as President and Chair of the Board over a five year period advocating for and supporting the local business community.

Marion is an experienced non-executive director and Board advisor to commercial and not-for-profit organisations, specialising in those with a focus on care, dignity, and long-term public value including Lifelink, a long-established mental-health and wellbeing charity.

David Wilson, Chair of the Consumer Scotland Board said:

“As cost of living and consumer issues continue to challenge households in Scotland, Marion’s international and non-executive experience, coupled with Jane’s expertise in partnering with business, will add to the current breadth of skills and expertise on the Board.

“I am delighted Marion and Jane will join us at a very important moment in the development of Consumer Scotland.”

Background

The appointment, which is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner, is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £237 per day for a time commitment of 2.5 days per month.

Consumer Scotland is the statutory body for consumers in Scotland. Established by the Consumer Scotland Act 2020, it is independent from the Scottish Government and accountable to the Scottish Parliament.

As a Non-Executive Director of the Independent Living Fund Scotland Marion Mcdonald receives remuneration of £208 per day, for a time commitment of one day per month.
